The questions everyone asks.
If you have a question that isn't here, book a free 15-minute call and ask. Garrett will tell you straight whether the method fits your body.
The method
What it is, and how it differs from what you've tried.
How is the Amari Method different from yoga or Pilates?
+
Yoga and Pilates teach you to do specific shapes well. The Amari Method teaches you to find what your body is asking for in the moment, then bring it into balance. Many clients are long-time yoga practitioners who plateaued. What was missing was the assessment of where they were overworking versus underworking, and protocols matched to their specific pattern.
How is this different from physical therapy?
+
PT is a prescription: here are exercises, do them. The Amari Method is a scaffolding for discovery: here's how to listen to your body and find what it's asking for. PT can rebuild a torn ACL. Amari rebuilds the relationship between you and your own body. Different jobs.
I'm not flexible. Can I still do this?
+
Yes. Flexibility isn't the goal. Balance is. Many clients are tight, stiff, or have lost mobility. Those bodies often respond fastest because what's out of balance is obvious and correctable.
I've tried everything. Why would this be different?
+
Most things you've tried address the place that hurts. The Amari Method addresses the pattern that's loading the place that hurts. That's a different problem. It's why people who've been managing chronic pain for ten or twenty years often feel a shift in their first session.
A yoga block and a foam roller. That's it?
+
The tools are simple. The trained eye reading your body isn't. Twenty-five years of hands-on practice is the difference between a block under your sacrum and a gateway opening. The simplicity is the point.
Do I have to do something at home?
+
Yes. About five minutes a day. If you won't do five minutes a day, this isn't for you and we'll tell you that on the discovery call. The whole method is built on the home practice. The sessions deepen what you're already doing.
Your first session
What to expect the first time you come in.
How long is the first session, and what does it cost?
+
Sixty minutes, $225. That covers your full movement assessment and your first protocol, whether you come to our San Francisco office or meet over video.
Can I do this virtually?
+
Yes. Virtual sessions work well for most conditions. Your posture and movement patterns are assessed via live video, and you're guided through protocols in real time. Most clients notice the same kind of shift virtually as in-person. Some bodies, usually very passive ones who need direct hands-on cuing, get more out of in-person. Your discovery call will tell you which is right for you.
What should I wear?
+
Comfortable clothes you can move in easily. Stretchy pants or shorts and a t-shirt or athletic top. Pants without belt loops if you can help it. No special equipment needed, we provide everything.
I've had surgery or have a serious diagnosis. Is this safe?
+
In most cases, yes. The Amari Method is permission-based: you never push through pain, never force a position. If something doesn't feel right, you stop. Every protocol is adapted to your specific situation. For serious post-surgical or acute injury cases, a discovery call first makes sure the work is appropriate.
What if I need to reschedule?
+
If you miss an appointment, the session is considered used. We understand emergencies happen and review rescheduling requests case by case. To reschedule, we ask for 24 hours notice.
Sessions, pricing, and the guarantee
How the packages work and what happens if it doesn't land.
How many sessions does it take?
+
Most clients feel meaningful relief in their first session. How many sessions you need depends on how long the pattern has been established and how consistently you apply your take-home practice. Most clients with moderate patterns see lasting improvement in three to six sessions. Many continue beyond that because the deeper work keeps unfolding.
What if I book the initial session and don't want to continue?
+
There's no commitment beyond the $225. After your first session you'll know whether the method is right for your body. Most people want to keep going. Some don't, and that's fine either way. You leave with the take-home practice regardless.
Can I start with the initial session and move into a series later?
+
Yes. If you decide to continue after your first session, the $225 you already paid counts toward the 4-session or 8-session series, so you only pay the difference.
Do unused sessions in a series expire?
+
No. Your sessions stay on your account until you use them. Book them at whatever pace works for you.
Do you accept insurance?
+
We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide a superbill on request that you can submit for possible reimbursement. Affirm is available at checkout for series.
What if the method doesn't work for me?
+
If you don't experience noticeable relief by the end of your first session, we keep working with you at no additional charge until you do. This guarantee is rarely needed because the protocols are built to create an immediate, tangible change.
